The real revenge of the electric car will be when it’s no longer that special. After two days of press previews at the LA Auto Show, it’s apparent that these cars have lost some of their media magic and have just joined the fold of other vehicles. Really, for electric vehicle enthusiasts, that’s good news. And for the rest of us weary of kilowatts and hypermiling, it’s great news.

Los Angeles — The 2012 Honda Civic Natural Gas was named the Green Car of the Year on Thursday at a ceremony at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The 2012 Honda Civic beat out a diverse field of finalists: the Ford Focus Electric, Mitsubishi i, Toyota Prius V and VW Passat with a diesel engine.

Toledo — Chrysler Group LLC CEO Sergio Marchionne announced a $500 million investment in the company’s Toledo Assembly Complex on Wednesday, saying he is making good on his pledge to the United Auto Workers to create jobs.
